Today was made for great pictures! The intense white light reflected off of the dense snow creating brilliant highlights and crisp action shots. I've been tracking Pale Male, Lola and one or two juvenile RTH's in the North Woods for a few months now. Last year at this time I remember seeing PM and Lola wheeling high above 96th Street, talons extended. I saw no mating behavior today but PM and Lola did interact quite dramatically a number of times. Here she is flying overhead with bulging crop.
She then circled high and flew north...all the way to 113th St. and began to dive.
I assumed she was diving on a pigeon but, no
it was Pale Male, sitting on the project railing!
and ran him off!
I then tracked PM to the Meer and got quite close.
He let me know what he thought of that!
And as the children sledded beneath him, PM glided on!
Later, I encountered this poor guy...he looked really hungry
Walking on I literally stared at this for 10 minutes thinking it was an ESO
Later, after work I found the real thing!
Flyout was 6:07pm 2.13.06
