Perfect raptor migration weather and today brought out all the heavy hitters:
Scads of canada geese on the move, trying to find clear ground.
Nearly two dozen turkey vultures cascading down the Hudson on the Western Wind.
All the while the resident peregrines held vigil. After sometime, the birds tore out southward in a tandom attack. When their target came in to view, I was astonished to see the markings of a juvenile Golden Eagle!
They pursued it South for over 1 mile, before returning to Riverside Church.
Harlem has the best birds!

Fall Harlem Raptors
Quite a mix of birds moving through including turkey vultures, red shouldered hawks, peregrines, and this merlin.
Also hunting pigeons were the Cathedral redtailed hawks.
And one of their young.
Quite a few crows about as well, stalking the stalkers.
